This page adds detail to our Privacy Policy, which covers everything PawMe collects. If the two ever seem to differ, the stricter protection applies.
It’s your dog’s health, not yours
Your dog’s records are still personal to you: they are linked to your account and can say things about your household. So we protect them as carefully as sensitive data.
What we mean by your dog’s health data
- Vaccines (dates given and next due), medications, doses you log, and when you stop a medication.
- Vet visits, reasons and notes, and the contacts you save (such as a vet or clinic).
- Weight entries, allergies and preventive care, such as parasite treatments, boosters and nail trims.
- Daily care you log: feeding, water, mood, enrichment, baths and similar.
- Documents and photos you attach to records, such as a PDF from your vet.
- Walks: duration, the events you log with an optional photo for each (PawMe stores the photo as your record and never analyzes or interprets it), and on a phone the distance, a route outline and your phone’s step count for a walk you start (see Location during walks).
- Your answers to the optional enrichment questionnaire, such as your dog’s mobility.
The records PDF can include the walk events you select, with their dates, your original descriptions and saved photos. You review the selection before exporting. Photos are embedded for offline reading. PawMe does not classify observations as clinically normal or abnormal, interpret images or diagnose. Event photos stay separate from Memories.
Not veterinary advice
PawMe helps you keep track. It does not examine, diagnose or treat your dog. Reminders and the Weekly Brief are worked out from what you log by simple fixed rules; enrichment suggestions come from your quiz answers; the Guide is general information. None of it is a vet’s opinion. Always ask a qualified veterinarian about your dog’s health, and in an emergency, contact a vet or emergency animal clinic immediately. Don’t wait for, or rely on, the app.
How it’s used
Only to run PawMe for you: to show your records, remind you of care, build your summaries and suggestions, and create a records export when you ask. Never for advertising, never sold, and never used to build profiles for anyone else. We don’t use outside analytics or AI services on it.
How it’s protected
- Every record is isolated by row-level security in the database to the owners and co-owners of the family it belongs to: just you, unless you choose to invite someone into your family. No other PawMe user can read it.
- If a family member reports a record or file, authorized PawMe support can review that material to handle the report (see Safety, reports and blocking).
- Encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest by our database provider.
- Documents and photos sit in private storage, reachable only through short-lived links after a permission check.
- Photos taken or picked in the app are re-encoded to remove hidden metadata such as GPS location.
- Push notifications name your dog and the kind of care, never values such as weights, doses or notes. You can hide lock-screen previews in your phone’s settings.
When it’s shared
Joining a family shares its dog health records, documents and care plans with its owners and co-owners, who have equal permissions to correct, delete and export them. It does not share your personal account information. Leaving or removing access preserves the shared dog history.
The providers that host PawMe (listed in the Privacy Policy) store and process this data only on our behalf.
Optional street maps use recorded route coordinates, during or after a walk you record, and expose the viewed area to Apple Maps or Google Maps. PawMe does not pass your dog’s health records, names or notes to the map provider. You can keep maps off and continue using your records and local route outline. Optional street maps.
Memorial Mode
If your dog passes, Memorial Mode keeps their records and memories as a calm, read-only keepsake. We remove engagement features: no streaks, nudges, treats, counters or suggestions. We never send reminders for a dog in Memorial Mode.
Your controls
- View, edit and remove health records in the app.
- Export a PDF of your records whenever you want one.
- Export all of your data from Settings → Export my data (web app).
- Delete your account from Settings. Families where you are the last owner or co-owner are erased with their dogs’ records and files; families with another owner or co-owner keep their shared records.
- Some items you remove are hidden straight away and fully erased when their family is deleted (for example, when its last owner or co-owner deletes their account). Email us to have a specific item erased sooner.
